World Environment Day Celebration

Carmel English School, Nanjangud, celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 with great enthusiasm to create awareness among students about the importance of protecting and preserving our environment. The programme began with a prayer service, followed by the symbolic watering of a sapling by the Administrator, Sr. Maria Smitha AC, and the Headmistress, Sr. Dorin Jacques AC, emphasizing the school's commitment to environmental conservation. Students of Class VI, under the guidance of Tr. Shoba, presented a meaningful cultural programme featuring speeches, thought-provoking slogans, and a vibrant dance performance highlighting environmental issues, sustainability, and the need to protect nature. The celebration was graced by the presence of Sr. Maria Smitha AC (Administrator), Sr. Dorin Jacques AC (Headmistress), and Sr. Neeta Maria (Assistant Headmistress). Addressing the gathering, the Headmistress encouraged students to become responsible stewards of the environment by conserving water, planting trees, reducing the use of plastics, saving electricity, and contributing towards building a cleaner and greener planet. To extend the message beyond the school campus, the Headmistress assigned students the activity of planting a sapling with their families, fostering a sense of responsibility and care for nature. The students also took a pledge to protect the environment and actively work towards reducing pollution. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks. The celebration was both informative and inspiring, motivating students to adopt eco-friendly practices and become responsible citizens committed to creating a sustainable future.
