    • 21 Jun 2026

“Yoga is not for one; it is for everyone. Yoga is not for a day; it is for every day.” Carmel English School celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from the students and staff. The celebration was organised with the aim of creating awareness about the significance of yoga and inspiring everyone to embrace a healthy, balanced and harmonious way of life. The programme commenced at 9:30 a.m. in the school playground in the gracious presence of our Headmistress, Sr. Dorin Jacques AC. The occasion was honoured by the presence of our chief guest, Mr. Manjunatha and his team from Yoga Mahamane. The students and staff assembled in the playground with their yoga mats and participated wholeheartedly in the session. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Manjunatha highlighted the profound significance of yoga as a practice that promotes the unity of mind and body, thought and action, while fostering harmony between human beings and nature. The guests demonstrated various simple yoga asanas and guided the participants through the practice. Students and staff followed the instructions with great enthusiasm, discipline and interest. The session served as a wonderful opportunity for everyone to experience the physical and mental benefits of yoga. The celebration concluded with a short meditation, creating an atmosphere of calmness and inner peace. A vote of thanks was proposed as a gesture of gratitude to the chief guest and his team for their valuable guidance and inspiring demonstration. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. The International Yoga Day celebration was a meaningful and enriching experience for the entire school community. It reinforced the message that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a holistic practice that nurtures physical health, mental well-being, inner harmony and a deeper connection with nature.
